Family revisions

As outlined in the introduction, a number of families have been or are being updated: Agavaceae, Amaranthaceae (amaranths), Anacardiaceae (e.g. mangoes, cashew nuts), Burseraceae (e.g. frankincense trees), Cactaceae (cacti), Combretaceae, Compositae (e.g. daisies), Cucurbitaceae (gourds, melons, cucumbers), Dracaenaceae (dragon trees), Ebenaceae (ebonies), Gramineae (grasses), Leguminosae (legumes), Palmae (palms), Portulacaceae, Solanaceae (e.g. peppers) and Tiliaceae. SEPASAL aims to be a two-way flow of information, and we would appreciate any data from visitors to this web site about any of these families.

 For example:

What useful dryland species should be included?

Are there any forthcoming taxonomic revisions?

Do you have any uses data that you would like to be disseminated via SEPASAL? Remember - all sources of information are acknowledged, i.e. your books, papers (published or otherwise) or personal communications would all be referenced next to each piece of information that you have provided.

Look at the pages under SEPASAL data, where there are examples of species entries before and after revision, to see the kinds of data that we include.

A special project is underway concerning all three subfamilies of the Leguminosae. For further details see Sub-Saharan famine food legumes
