Made of the beaten bark of
the Ficus tree, this mask would have been used in puberty rites
of the Tikuna Indians living in the village of Vendaval . Donated
as recently as 1991, this item attests to the collecting still carried
out today in an effort to preserve disappearing uses of plants.
