Scanning Procedure
The latest development
in this project is the change from the old imaging method, which
produced high quality photographic images known as cibachromes,
to the use of a scanner. This will enable us to store the images
of specimens we make and eventually use them in the web site. The
scanner we are using has a framework especially developed by
Andrew McRobb (Information Services Department) which turns the
scanner upside-down in order to scan the herbarium specimens
without turning them over, thus minimizing the risks of damage
to the collections.
