Welcome to Kew's Autumn Festival
From red cranberries, to orange pumpkins, yellow squashes and green
apples. Kew's autumn festival offers a kaleidoscope of autumn colours
and fruits.
For the first time ever in the UK there will be a spectacular display
of over 5.3m cranberries floating on the Palm House pond, replicating
how they're harvested in New England. While across the Gardens there
will be giant 20ft pumpkin man dominating the horizon.
The festival also explores cultivation and harvesting techniques which
have created a huge variety of fruit varieties, many of which are on
display. There
are hundreds of apples and pumpkins to discover and with evocative names
such as Sheep's Snout, Brown Cockle, and Slack-my-girdle they are sure
to tickle your fancy.
And let's not forget half-term. Don't let your children hibernate before
they have enjoyed a day out at Kew. There are hosts of specific children's
activities and over Halloween weekend the ghostly side of the Gardens
is unveiled.
So come and explore what's on, fruit has never been so appetising...
