Cambridge Cottage
Cambridge Cottage, known in the Gardens as Kew Gardens Gallery,
was purchased from Lord Bute, Princess Augusta's botanical advisor,
by George III and presented to his seventh son, the Duke of Cambridge.
In 1840 it was remodelled and extended to form his permanent residence.
Added to the Gardens in 1904, the building now houses the Kew Gardens
Gallery which shows exhibitions of botanical art by past and contemporary
artists, and other subjects, such as the graphically exciting London
Transport posters which have regularly featured trips to Kew since
1908.
Please note: Cambridge Cottage is licensed to host civil wedding ceremonies
and receptions and is also available for corporate hire, so the
Gallery can occasionally be closed to the public.
