The Tropical Nursery Complex
Closed to visitors, the large area of the Tropical Nursery Complex
comprises extensive
modern glasshouses, administrative offices and staff housing.
Tropical Nursery
The nursery glasshouses are, in fact, the largest
areas under glass in the Gardens at 6,500 sq. m,
even bigger than the Temperate House. In here, 1000s of plants
are raised for reseach and exhibition. Quarantine Glasshouse
There is quarantine section for plants collected from the
wild. Quarantine is strictly enforced so that no non-native
pests or diseases can escape into the local environment.
Micropropagation Unit
There is also the Micropropagation Unit, conserving
rare species of flowering plants and mosses.
