Wildlife Zone

A wooden observation hut overlooks the gravel pit in one direction and a dipping pond in the other. Inside there is more information about these important habitats and the wildlife they support.

Local schools helped to design the pond and surrounding features, and helped with planting.

The dipping pond has been planted with the aim of attracting aerial visitors in the form of damselflies and dragonflies; and as many amphibians as possible- frogs, toads and newts. Wooden models of a dragonfly, a frog and a great crested newt attract the eye - and hopefully, the real-life creatures they represent.
