Almonds were found in the tomb of Tutankhamum, and were first
cultivated in the Levant some 5000 years ago. They are also
mentioned in the Bible. The Romans imported the fruits to
England, along with many other foodstuffs, so they could have
familiar plants and fruits to eat.
