Kew and Node Explore have collaborated to bring you the Kew Ranger, a handheld GPS companion to enhance your day in the Gardens.

Whether you are new to Kew, a regular visitor with your family or a horticulture enthusiast, Kew Ranger will offer you something interesting and different. There are almost 100 exclusive film clips to watch, including tips and behind-the-scenes information from Kew’s own experts.

You can use your Kew Ranger to:

  • take you on a seasonal walk so see Kew's best bits for this time of year
  • lead you around selected highlights according to what kind of schedule you’re on
  • occupy the family – a challenge for kids will keep them hunting clues to unlock secret levels
  • browse content brought to you by Kew staff - including hints and history - perhaps from a park bench or café  .

You can even use the GPS map to navigate away from the paths and avoid the crowds!

Kew’s visitors have been piloting the device during June and July and found that the Kew Ranger “kept the kids alert and entertained”, delivered “freedom of movement and an enhanced experience of the Garden” and was handy because it “highlighted the best parts especially as we didn’t have much time”.

Kew Rangers can be rented from Victoria Gate for £4.95. Shareable headphones and content snippets make them easy to share in a family group - or take one each to keep the kids busy!
