Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets sessile (2), or pedicelled (6). Pedicels linear (1/5), or oblong (4/5).

FERTILE SPIKELETS Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets oblong; laterally compressed; 5–8.562–13 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Floret callus brief (6), or elongated (2); pubescent (7/7); obtuse (5), or acute (2), or pungent (1).
GLUMES Glumes persistent; shorter than spikelet (2), or reaching apex of florets (1), or exceeding apex of florets (5); thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume lanceolate (4), or ovate (4); 0.75–1.015–1.3 length of upper glume; membranous (5), or chartaceous (2), or scarious (1); without keels; 3 -veined. Lower glume surface smooth (6), or scabrous (2); without pits; glabrous (5), or pilose (2), or hirsute (1), or villous (1). Lower glume apex entire (7), or dentate (1); 3 -fid (1/1); obtuse (1/7), or acute (2/7), or acuminate (2/7), or setaceously attenuate (2/7); muticous (7), or awned (1). Upper glume lanceolate (4), or ovate (4); 0.3–1.085–1.8 length of adjacent fertile lemma; membranous (5), or chartaceous (2), or scarious (1); with undifferentiated margins (6), or hyaline margins (1), or membranous margins (1); without keels; 3 -veined (7/7). Upper glume surface smooth (6), or scabrous (2); glabrous (5), or pilose (2), or hirsute (1), or villous (1); with simple hairs (3/4), or tubercle-based hairs (1/4).
